Corporate Governance Insights: the global scene and what works best
Recent events have further increased the attention given to corporate governance and boards of directors are under even greater pressure to demonstrate that they have the capability to be proactive and strategically minded with regards to corporate governance issues. Boards need not only to manage their own operations with respect to governance, but also exert the right levels of influence on management and the company as a whole.
Achieving better practice means creating sustainable value, in terms of board operations, stewardship, monitoring and evaluation, strategy development and corporate captive. In these endeavours, they need to involve shareholders, employees, customers, supply partners, regulators and the community as a whole. However, each company has unique characteristics, taking into account geography, industry, market, culture and the expectations of stakeholders.
