Corporate Fraud: A risk that needs to be managed
The first roundtable event was held on the 2nd October at the JW Marriott Hotel Bangkok which was attended by over 140 Thailand Institute of Directors members, audit committee members and members of various public listed companies.
The incidence of various kinds of internal malpractice and misconduct is perceived as an increasing challenge to management in Thailand. Countering this business risk is essential, not only to reduce exposure to corporate liability, sanctions and litigation, but also to achieve the highest standards of business integrity through sound corporate governance, internal control and transparency.
Best practice companies need to develop fraud risk management strategies to ensure prevention, detection and response. To help raise awareness the following presentation was made to the event attendees by Grant Jamieson Partner, KPMG Hong Kong, Forensic Practice Leader for Hong Kong.

The Audit Committee Institute Thailand facilitates interactive roundtables forums. These roundtables are panel-driven, interactive sessions designed to facilitate constructive dialogue among participants—typically including audit committee members, board members, CEOs, CFOs, chief accounting officers, tax directors, and other corporate leaders. The goal of our roundtables is to enhance participants’ awareness of the issues discussed and identify actions to improve the effectiveness of audit committees.
